Church or no Church? That is the question.

So today I was waiting to clock in at work and decided to give my mom a call. Before i can even say the usual, Hey. How are you? She says "Your Mommoms(grandmother) is here. Say hi a second." I love my Mommom so I didn't fight my mom about talking to her, like I usually do when she wants me to say "hi" to someone near her. My Mommom gets on the phone and starts right away with the wedding talk. I love that, I'm so happy shes excited about it. But ofcorse my big mouth had to get in the way of our nice discussion by saying "Hey, guess what? Dad was unhappy about me not getting married in a church as much as you were. Aint that something?"  The second it came out my mouth i wanted to bang my head on the table infront of me.

Heres the background on this. Me and my fiance' ,Will, have decided to get married in a hall. The ceremony and reception will be held in the same place. It how alot of weddings in Louisiana are done. Plus we got a great deal on our hall. Not only that but we dont go to church so i would feel weird getting married in a church that I'm not even apart of. Its not that we arent religious, because we are. But we rather praise God from home rather than be lectured about sins, and evil in church. My Mommom doesnt get that and when i told her she wasnt happy with it. Turns out neither was my dad.

So right away we get into the debate of the hall versus a church. This is kind of how the conversation went.

Mommom- I know there is churches near you that you could attend and then get married in.
Me-Mommom we just arent church going people.
Mommom-Thats nonsence
Me-Its cheaper to get married in a hall, we'r on a budget.
Mommom-i dont believe that. Churches arent expensive.
Me-Well i dont want to get married in a church other than our church, it would feel weird.
Mommom-Well than fly back home and have your wedding here.
Me-Now that most deffinitly would cost to much money.
Mommom- No our church wouldnt charge you anything
Me-What about plane tickets and a hotel for a week. We dont have that kind of money.
Mommom- It would save us money.
(clearly shes not listening now)
Me-Thats not going to happen mommom.
Mommom-Well you should get married in a house of god
Me-(lighting a ciggerette) God created the world, there for anywhere i get married can be considered a house of god.
Mommom-We'll i'm just going to have to keep on you about getting married in a church until your wedding day.
Me-Ok mommom but its not going to work.
Mommom-well i love you, i'll talk to you later sweety.

My Mommoms stubborn, i guess shes who i get it from. I also know her promise of getting on me about it untill the wedding is something I cant control and will have to deal with. I love her and understand her point but I've already paid for my hall, and i'm keeping it at that.

No Church!

Where To Start?

Hi, my name is Chelsea. I am 20 yrs old and i live in Louisiana, originally from Maryland. That would be a long story, but here i am to blog about planning my wedding. I am engaged to a 19 yr old man, named Will. He is a welder at a ship yard and his amazing. I love him so much! We got engaged about two years ago and this past May we have decided to start planning our wedding. The date has been set to January 14, 2012. Well theres the basics.

So now where to start? I had no clue at first, i've never planned a wedding before. But since May i've gotten my dress, planned the cake and food, and put a down payment on our venue. I feel as if many of the big things are handled, now i'm starting to worry about the little things. Our wedding is only five and a half months away. Every time i say that or think about that i start freaking out. It feels like its right around the corner. I guess i;m kind of stressed out about it, but at the same time very very excited!

Well i think thats all i got for my first post. Yay me!
